- Tea
- Tea is the beverage of choice here. It is served sweet and cold unless otherwise specified. Truly southern sweet tea cooks the sugar and tea bags together. I just make tea and add sugar while it's still warm. Don't keep sweet tea more than a day or so, it will start to grow even if refrigerated.
The Meeting Place serves apricot tea, chilled and sweetened and truly delicious.
- Beer
They actually brew beer in nearby Farmville, at a place called Duck-Rabbit Brewery. The name has nothing to do with the ingredients. This and many other interesting beers are available at: Washington Wine and Gourmet Most convenience stores and grocery stores sell beer. The selection of imports varies, if you don't find what you're looking for, check another store. If you still haven't found your brew of choice, Greenville grocery stores have a mind boggling selection of beer, it's a college town. Beer is not sold between midnight Saturday and 1pm Sunday.
- Wine
The wine made at Bennett Vineyards in Beaufort County is from the original recipe that the colonists used. They make other varieties from muscadine and scuppernong grapes. It's all sweet. They have tours and grapes are for sale in season -- late summer to early fall. Washington Wine and Gourmet This store has a very unique selection of wine, and you can go and taste Friday afternoon and Saturday. Their selection criteria means that you won't find anything here that's at the grocery store. Every bottle is a good value for the price. There's an incredible champagne type wine from New Mexico that rivals the real thing at half the price. There's wine packaged for the boat or camping, in a pouch or a box. The ones I've tried actually tasted quite good. Wine is available at most grocery stores, the selection varies by store. The Food Lion east of town has drastically expanded their selection of wine, I was pleasantly surprised. Then again, they have this pinot noir called Pinot Evil at the Piggly Wiggly, and it's very good. The label has the three monkeys (hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil) on the label. Wine is not sold between midnight on Saturday and 1pm Sunday.
- Alcohol
Alcohol is available at the ABC store. Alcoholic Beverage Control authorizes the selection and price. There is a limit to how much you can buy at one time without getting a permit. ABC: Cash, credit or debit, no checks. Alcohol is not sold on Sunday or holidays or when a state of emergency has been declared.
- Coffee
- Orangeade:
Freshly squeezed orange juice, sugar water and ice. Careful, you can get hooked on these. Andy's Hospital Pharmacy
